An Indonesian clothing company has been forced to recall clothing amid a social media storm over its sexist labelling.

The Jakarta-based Salvo Sports Apparel faced a social media backlash over a washing label, which told owners to give the clothing to their "woman" as "it's her job".
An online petition was also launched over the label, which was printed on the soccer jerseys of Indonesian Super League team Pusamania Borneo.

The company has since issued an apology on social media, citing “offending gender issues”.

In a series of tweets, the company said the labels would be replaced in time for a scheduled Indonesian Super League match.
The apology coincided with International Women's Day.
