Darcy Moore is in contention to make his AFL debut on Anzac Day but Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley says the talented teen isn't alone in pressing for selection.
Moore, son of club great Peter, was drafted last year as a father-son selection and has been impressing in the VFL.
"He could (debut). He's playing some really good footy," Buckley said. on Tuesday
Buckley noted he was unlikely to make too many changes for Saturday's MCG blockbuster against Essendon.
"We had some pretty good performers last week," Buckley said, referencing a 74-point win over St Kilda.
However, Moore, Jordan De Goey, Alex Fasolo, Jarrod Witts and Jonathon Marsh are very much in the mix for a call-up according to Buckley.
"When we're still settling and finding out best mix at the top, there will be changes clearly," he said.
"We need to maintain integrity in selection - the players that play have earned the responsibility."
Taylor Adams, a late withdrawal from the victory over the Saints, is expected to be passed fit on Thursday and is another potential inclusion.
Walk-up starters Steele Sidebottom (broken thumb) and Levi Greenwood (ankle) remain sidelined while Ben Reid is unlikely to see any AFL action until the second half of the season.
Buckley allayed fears of a major injury setback for Reid, who visited a German specialist in January in an effort to stop recurring soft-tissue problems.
Reid underwent scans on Tuesday morning, having been unable to finish the Magpies' VFL game two days earlier.
"There's no muscle disruption. We're treating it like a mild corkie," Buckley said.
"He may be running in two days. He may be a chance to play (VFL) this week.
Buckley dismissed the notion Reid would never play at the top level again.
"He just needs a bit of luck as much as anything, to get his hard work rewarded," he said of the 25-year-old.
"He's got a lot of footy left in him.
"You can call this a setback if you like, but it's a knock.
"We've got a greater understand of where he's at .. his progress has been excellent."
Meanwhile, Buckley confirmed livewire forward Jamie Elliott had all but re-signed with the Magpies.
"We're pretty confident that it's just a matter of telling you guys (media) that it's done," he said.
