Comm Games champ wins at gymnastics titles

Emily Little and Tyson Bull are among the winners from day two of the Australian gymnastics championships in Melbourne.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Emily Little has overcome a long delay to easily nail her two vaults on day two of the Australian gymnastics titles in Melbourne.

Little's start was delayed on Saturday night as the judges scored the preceding athlete, but the 21-year-old used her experience to ignore the disruption.

"That's what we come here to do, we come to do our best and you're in the gym every day to win," she said.

"It's always nice to come to nationals and get recognised for all that hard work you put in.

"Now I'm looking to upgrade both vaults and hopefully make a final at the world championships."

Meanwhile, in men's results, 22-year-old Victorian Tyson Bull took out the pommel horse title on Saturday night.

Despite losing the all-around title to Naoya Tsukahara, Bull says he has learnt so much from his time in a US college program at the University of Illinois.

"Coming from that college environment has just really hammered home that consistency is the key," said Bull.

"A single fall is one whole mark, so staying on the horse is almost everything and I was able to do that today.

"Sometimes your mind races ahead of you, but if you keep your mind in check you will have a good result, so I think that's what I do best."

The competition continues on Sunday with the remaining apparatus finals, including two-time world champion Lauren Mitchell on beam and floor.
