CommInsure probe takes in 60,000 documents

ASIC has obtained 60,000 documents as part of its investigation into CommInsure but says it is not in a position to comment on the substance of its probe.

The corporate regulator has taken possession of about 60,000 documents as part of its investigation into the CommInsure scandal.

But the Australian Securities and Investments Commission is still looking into the company's claims handling practices and procedures and cannot yet comment on the substance of its investigation.

ASIC says CommInsure has paid out about $2.5 million since March, when it started reassessing past claims in the wake of complaints it acted unethically in rejecting some.
