Commodity prices bounce in June

Commodity prices rose 0.7 per cent in June and were up 17.9 per cent in annual terms, weighed down by weaker coal and oil prices.

Commodity prices rose for the first time in four months in June, as a rise in the iron ore price offset falls in coal and oil prices.

The Reserve Bank's commodity price index, rose 0.7 per cent in June, in foreign currency terms, after declining 1.8 per cent in May.

However the commodity index is 17.9 per cent lower than it was a year ago.
