Community meeting over large Vic bushfire

Fire crews continue battling an out-of-control bushfire in Victoria's east as the community prepares to meet to discuss their emergency preparations.

Fire crews battling a 230-hectare blaze in Victoria's east are concerned about warmer weather expected to reach the area in coming days.

Authorities have issued a watch-and-act evacuation message for the suburbs of Cloverlea and Ellinbank, advising residents to enact their fire plans.

The bushfire, on the McDonalds Track at Seaview, is not yet considered under control, and a community meeting will be held in Darnum on Monday afternoon to update residents on the situation.

"Although the fire is burning at a steady pace, we do have concerns over the warmer weather later this week," CFA incident controller Craig Ferguson said in a statement.

"We would strongly urge the community to come along this afternoon to ask questions."

The fire is burning in steep terrain and producing lots of smoke, which is expected to increase during the day as crews conduct burning out operations.

Residents are being advised to tune into local radio and check the Vic Emergency app.

An advice message has been issued for the suburbs of Allambee, Allambee Reserve, Ferndale, Gainsborough, Seaview, Trida, Yarragon and Yarragon South.
