A peak body representing community and welfare services says providers are struggling to meet the growing demand for assistance.
An annual survey by the Australian Council of Social Service of over 500 community service agencies shows access to affordable housing is the most significant issue facing its clients.
The report also highlights the challenges in meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the areas of housing, youth welfare and mental health.
