Concern over Indigenous health agreement

An Indigenous health organisation says the National Partnerships Agreement to close the gap on Indigenous health is at risk of being discontinued.

The agreement - which sets health targets to be achieved by 2030 - expired in June, and has yet to be re-signed by all states.

The chair of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Justin Mohamed, says he is concerned that without a new agreement, life expectancy in Indigenous communities will decline.

Mr Mohamed told Thisanka Siripala involvement of states and territories is crucial.
