Concussion rules out SBW for Chiefs

Sonny Bill Williams and Tim Nanai-Williams will miss the Chiefs' round six Super Rugby match against the Sharks in Durban.

Sonny Bill Williams has been ruled out of the Chiefs' Super Rugby clash with the Sharks this weekend after failing to overcome concussion issues.

Inside centre Williams clashed heads with Stormers prop Vincent Koch midway through the first half at Newlands last weekend and although he passed the pitch-side concussion test and returned to the field he has been struggling with symptoms since.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie has made four changes to his line-up for the sixth-round match in Durban on Sunday morning (AEDT).

Andrew Horrell and Seta Tamanivalu take over in the midfield from the injured Tim Nanai-Williams and Williams.

Jamie Mackintosh and Siate Tokolahi will start the match in the engine room, after they provided great impact from the bench in last week's 28-19 win over the Stormers in Cape Town.

Forwards Rhys Marshall, Ben Tameifuna, Mitchell Graham and Johan Bardoul join back Hosea Gear among the changes to the reserves.

Chiefs: Damian McKenzie, Bryce Heem, Seta Tamanivalu, Andrew Horrell, James Lowe, Aaron Cruden, Brad Weber, Michael Leitch, Sam Cane, Liam Messam (capt), Michael Fitzgerald, Matt Symons, Siate Tokolahi, Hika Elliot, Jamie Mackintosh. Reserves: Rhys Marshall, Ben Tameifuna, Mitchell Graham, Michael Allardice, Johan Bardoul, Augustine Pulu, Tom Marshall, Hosea Gear.
