Confusion over Sydney car park stabbing

Police investigating the stabbing of a man in a western Sydney car park say two men have offered them different accounts of the incident.

Police investigating the stabbing of a man in a western Sydney car park say they're dealing with conflicting accounts of what actually happened.

They say they were called to a unit block in Fairfield on Friday night, where they spoke to a man with stab wounds to his shoulder and back who told them he'd been in a fight with a second man.

After he was located by officers, however, the alleged attacker, who was also injured, insisted he'd been hurt after three men broke into his home and threatened and assaulted him.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed an incident in York Street at Fairfield just before 8.30pm on Friday to contact them.
