Construction boss George Alex has pleaded guilty to threatening to kill a Sydney family.
The 44-year-old was arrested at a Sydney hotel in September last year after police said he made threats to a number of people over the previous six months.
In one message, police said Alex told a woman that "your husband is lucky I haven't sent my men".
Alex also intimidated a mother, father and brother, saying he would send his "crew and men" to them, a court has heard previously.
This week, the construction boss pleaded guilty in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court to using a carriage service to threaten to kill.
Two further counts of using a carriage service to threaten serious harm will also be taken into account when he is sentenced in March.
It comes months after Alex fronted the royal commission into union corruption to watch his lawyer cross-examine colourful business identity "Big" Jim Byrnes.
The commission has heard allegations the scaffolding companies owned by Alex made regular illicit payments of thousands of dollars to officials of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union to receive favourable treatment in workplace deals.
Mr Byrnes claimed he saw a union official take cash from Alex.
But Alex denied the allegations to reporters, and described the royal commission as a political witch hunt.
