Consumer confidence dipping: survey

Consumers are losing confidence in their future financial prospects, the latest ANZ Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence Survey shows,.

Consumers are less confident in general and about their own future finances and the 12-month economic outlook.

The ANZ Roy Morgan Australian Consumer Confidence Survey shows that consumer confidence fell 0.7 per cent in the week ended March 12 but, at 113.1, it remains above the 100-point level separating confidence and pessimism.

While householders' view of their current finances improved 3.1 per cent, sentiment towards their future fortunes dropped 3.4 per cent, meaning that sub-index is at its lowest level since last October, and their views on the 12-month economic outlook slumped 5.2 per cent.
