Consumer confidence hits six-month low

ANZ/Roy Morgan's consumer confidence index fell to its lowest level since August, amid concerns about job security and weak wages growth.

Concerns about job security and weak wages growth has sent consumer confidence down to a six-month low.

ANZ/Roy Morgan's weekly consumer confidence index fell 1.7 per cent to its lowest level since August, leaving the index well below its long-run average.

ANZ chief economist Warren Hogan said the rise in the January unemployment rate to 6.4 per cent, announced last week, and slower economic growth were the key factors weighing on consumers' moods.
