Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will meet with the head of Ergon to discuss whether consumers may be hit with the cost of future cyclone repairs to the state's electricity grid.
Ms Palaszczuk said she would hold talks with Ergon chief executive Ian McLeod on Tuesday afternoon after seeing reports in The Australian newspaper that the electricity provider was seeking insurance for future repair costs.
The media report says consumers could foot the bill if Ergon is unable to obtain insurance.
Ms Palaszczuk said the bill for Cyclone Marcia continued to rise.
"I'm going to have a talk to the CEO of Ergon later on today," she told ABC Radio.
"What we are seeing is these cyclones are having a huge impact across Queensland.
"We can deal with cyclones here but the cost of rebuilding is taking its toll."
Ms Palaszczuk said power had been restored to around 25,000 homes.
Around 900 Ergon workers have been flown in to Rockhampton and surrounding towns to restore power to the more than 44,000 premises that are still in blackout.
Ms Palaszczuk and opposition leader Lawrence Springborg are both travelling to Rockhampton on Tuesday.
