Cook fined for slow over rate

Alastair Cook has been fined for England's slow over rate in the fifth Ashes Test.

England captain Alastair Cook has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee because of the team's slow over-rate in the loss to Australia in the fifth Ashes test.

The ICC said on Monday the rest of the England team received 20 per cent fines after the governing body ruled England was two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

The ICC says Cook pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction.

Australia won the test by an innings and 46 runs at The Oval Sunday for a consolation victory. England won the series 3-2.
