Corby's 'friend' jailed for 10 months

An Indonesian man linked to Schapelle Corby has been given a 10-month sentence for having marijuana.

The Bali surfer rumoured to have been Schapelle Corby's boyfriend has been sentenced to 10 months' jail on drug charges.

Bernard Simanjuntak, better known as Ben Panangian, was charged in Bali after he was caught in possession of marijuana in August.

Simanjuntak, 32, met Corby behind bars in Kerobokan jail in 2006 when both were serving time for drugs offences, and were seen together after her release on parole in February.

However, both Corby and Simantujak have denied they are an item.

Prosecutors had asked for a jail term of 16 months. The judge sentenced Simantujak on the basis that he was an addict.
