Cordner misses another Blues training run

NSW skipper Boyd Cordner's calf has forced him to miss a second straight field session on Thursday.

Boyd Cordner continues to race the clock to be fit for next week's State of Origin decider after missing an opposed session with the NSW team on Thursday.

Teammates had been hopeful the Blues skipper would participate in the run against Intrust Super Cup side Tweed Heads in Cudgen.

However, a calf injury forced Cordner to again watch from the sidelines as the Blues ramped up preparations for game three on Wednesday.

Wade Graham spent the majority of the time on the left edge.

It is the second straight field session Cordner has sat out after missing Wednesday's light run, meaning he has yet to train since their game two defeat.

Tyson Frizell (back) and James Tedesco (ankle) both completed the session and the team will now have Friday off before the build-up resumes over the weekend.

Hooker Nathan Peats welcomed the birth of his second child on Thursday before returning to Blues camp for the day's training run.

Earlier on Friday, forward Josh Jackson denied it would be risk to take an underdone Cordner or Frizell into such a critical game.

"With the squad we've got, we've got the depth to cover those guys if it were to happen," Jackson said.

"You've got Jack Bird on the bench that can pretty much play any position on the field.

"You've got Wade Graham on the bench who's the same, he's really versatile.

"I'd think if that were to happen, we'd be covered for it.

"But everything suggests those guys will be fine to go."

Jackson said he was prepared to step into the captaincy role should Cordner fail to recover in time but insisted there were other options coach Laurie Daley could opt for.

"There's a lot of guys here that could do the job, a lot of experienced guys like James Maloney and Aaron Woods, he's the captain of his club," Jackson said.

"Wade Graham if he comes into the side for Boyd, he's done it for the Sharks before.

"For me I just do the stuff on the field and let my actions do the talking."
