A man accused of smuggling drugs with corrupt NSW crime fighter Mark Standen will stand trial for the second time over his alleged involvement in a multimillion dollar international drug cartel.

British national James Henry Kinch, 55, appeared in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday over allegations he conspired with Standen and former Sydney businessman Bakhos "Bill" Jalalaty to import 300kg of pseudoephedrine.

Australian Federal Police have previously alleged the drug smuggling took place in the United Kingdom, Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates between January 2006 and June 2008.

Standen, a former NSW Crime Commission director, was convicted in 2011 over his part in the plot and sentenced to a maximum of 22 years.

Jalalaty pleaded guilty in 2010 to conspiring with Standen and is serving a maximum jail sentence of 10 years.

Kinch on Friday listened as his defence team and the crown prosecution agreed to a trial date of March 16, 2015.

The trial is expected to last five months.

Kinch has been in custody since Australian authorities extradited him from Thailand to Sydney in November 2012.
