The injury-plagued fast bowler produced a lethal opening spell in Sunday's first ODI, with his outswing tempting a trio of right-handed Indian batsman.
Coulter-Nile collected 3-12 off his first five overs in his first match for Australia since playing against the West Indies in Bridgetown in June last year.
The 29-year-old has overcome the stress fracture in his back which sent him home from last year's tour to Sri Lanka and ruined his summer.
Coulter-Nile's only cricket this year has been eight IPL matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Indian opener Ajinkya Rahane (five) was his first victim.
