Coulter-Nile set to miss Zimbabwe tour

Nathan Coulter-Nile appears no chance of going on Australia's limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe after having surgery on an injured hamstring.

Australia has almost certainly lost another player for their upcoming limited overs tour of Zimbabwe with Nathan Coulter-Nile ruled out due to injury.

Coulter-Nile underwent surgery on his left hamstring in Melbourne on Tuesday and Australia team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris doesn't think the fast bowler will be fit for the one-day tri-series against Zimbabwe and South Africa starting in August.

"Nathan has had a recurring left hamstring tendon injury over the past four months and required surgery to repair the damaged tendon to give it the best chance of recovery," Kountouris told cricket.com.au.

"Nathan will now commence a rehabilitation program, however he is unlikely to be bowling again in time to be available for the ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe."

The West Australian was a member of Australia's World Twenty20 squad in Bangladesh earlier this year but his hamstring problem meant he missed most of the following Indian Premier League campaign.

Coulter-Nile joins David Warner on the sidelines for the African tour, after the explosive opening batsman withdrew for personal reasons.

Australia are expected to name their squad for the Zimbabwe tour in mid-August.
