Council urged to ground helipad

The Adelaide City Council has been urged to drop plans for a helipad in the Adelaide parklands.

The Greens have called on the Adelaide City Council to abandon plans for a helipad in the city's parklands.

Greens MP Mark Parnell says idea of a commercial landing pad for helicopters alongside the banks of the River Torrens is an inappropriate privatisation of community land.

"Helicopters are incredibly noisy and with arrival and departure flight paths being over the parklands, the noise impact will be widespread over what is currently a relatively tranquil oasis," Mr Parnell said on Monday.
