A major international summit on extremism is underway in Washington.

A major international summit on extremism is underway in the United States, aimed at discussing a co-ordinated global response to violent extremism.

The three day meeting has representatives from 60 countries, including Australia.

Dr Anne Aly is from the not for profit group, People against Violent Extremism which counters violent extremism online.

Dr Aly is in Washington for the summit and she spoke to Julia Calixto.
