Couple pulled from burning Illawarra home

A couple have been pulled from their Lake Illawarra home after fire spread from their neighbour's house.

Police have kicked in the door of a home in Lake Illawarra to rescue a couple after fire broke out in the house next door.

Emergency services were called to Entrance Street, Lake Illawarra early on Saturday morning after a fire spread from an empty property to the neighbour's home.

The two residents were removed without injury and have been taken to stay with friends. Their house has sustained fire and smoke damage.
