Court grants greyhound trainer bail

A Queensland greyhound trainer charged over the live baiting scandal has been granted bail on the condition he makes no contact with witnesses.

Queensland greyhound trainer Tom Noble has been granted bail on the condition that he makes no contact with three others charged over the live baiting scandal.

The 68-year-old has spent several weeks in jail after he allegedly threatened a co-accused while on bail for animal cruelty charges.

Noble was banned from the race tracks for life and charged with seven counts of animal cruelty earlier this year following investigations into live baiting in Queensland's greyhound racing industry.

His solicitor, Jason Grant, told reporters outside the Supreme Court of Queensland that his client was relieved to be granted bail.

"He is certainly happy to be released so he can go back to his family," he said.

He said Noble's legal team was still working through his charges ahead of a July 1 court hearing.

While granting Nobel bail on Tuesday, Justice Jean Dalton said she believed there was a reduced risk of him interfering with witnesses again.

She also did not deem him a flight risk and took into account that he and his wife say they are in poor health.

Noble must report to a police station once a week and have no contact with three co-accused witnesses.
