Dallas Cowboys safety and special teams player CJ Spillman is involved in a sexual assault probe in suburban Grapevine, Texas, police said on Wednesday.
No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident that allegedly occurred at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center.
Police Sergeant Robert Eberling said a report involving Spillman was filed on September 20, but declined to release further details of the allegations and what role Spillman may have played.
The investigation comes as the NFL is under scrutiny after a spate of high profile cases of off-field violence, particularly the case of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who has been banned indefinitely from the league after punching his future wife in February.
Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson is facing a child abuse charge in Texas over a whipping administered to his four-year-old son, and Carolina's Greg Hardy is appealing a domestic violence conviction.
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was charged this week with assault in connection with a domestic dispute in which his girlfriend suffered a broken nose.
On Tuesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told players that the club wouldn't allow players accused of domestic violence to play.
