A feisty wombat who was in no mood for a pat has bitten a woman on the leg at a Queensland wildlife park.
Paramedics were called to the park after the not-so-cuddly marsupial sank its teeth into the woman's calf in an animal petting area on Monday.
The 46-year-old suffered a deep bite and was taken from the park, at Woombye in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, to hospital in a stable condition.
"Paramedics described it as a fairly deep bite to her calf," ambulance services spokesman Mark Fisher said, adding it wasn't your average day on the job for the crew sent to help.
"I can't remember attending a wombat bite - in recent years anyway."
