Creditors approve Arrium sale to Brits

Creditors of troubled steel and mining group Arrium have approved its proposed sale to British consortium GFG Alliance.

Arrium's creditors have approved the sale of the collapsed steel and mining group to British consortium GFG Alliance, its administrators said on Thursday.

The nod removes the last significant hurdle to completion of the sale, after federal treasurer Scott Morrison signed off the foreign investment approval last week, KordaMentha said in a statement.

GFG Alliance, led by metals magnate Sanjeev Gupta, won the bidding battle for Arrium earlier this month, trumping a rival proposal from a South Korean group.
