Cricket records rewritten in Ranchi

An exacting day of Test cricket in Ranchi has resulted in several records being set.

RECORDS THAT ROLLED ON DAY FOUR IN RANCHI

* Highest innings workload in the Test careers of Pat Cummins (39 overs), Josh Hazlewood (44 overs) and Steve O'Keefe (77 overs).

* O'Keefe smashed the record for most overs delivered by an Australian in a Test innings in India, which had been Alan Davidson's 57.3 overs in 1959.

* Only five Australians have bowled more overs in a Test innings than O'Keefe. The most recent was Jim Higgs, who rolled the arm over for 79.4 overs against England at the SCG in 1979.

* Longest-ever Test innings by an Indian. Cheteshwar Pujara faced some 525 balls in his double century, bettering the 495 deliveries Rahul Dravid faced against Pakista in Rawalpindi in 2004.

* Highest score by a No.8 batsman in a Test between Australia and India. Wriddhiman Saha scored 117, bettering the 92 that MS Dhoni managed in Mohali in 2008.

* Highest seventh-wicket partnership in a Test between Australia and India. Pujara and Saha shared a 199-run stand, bettering the 173-run stand between Andrew Symonds and Brad Hogg at the SCG in 2008.
