Water police and rangers are continuing to search for a man taken by a crocodile in the Northern Territory's Kakadu National Park.
The 62-year-old was on a boat when he was attacked on the South Alligator River, southwest of Cooinda, on Saturday afternoon.
It's understood his wife, son and daughter-in-law were with him in the remote area and drove to Cooinda to raise the alarm.
"It's such a remote part of the Northern Territory, we've only got access to information via satellite phones," a Darwin Police spokesman told AAP on Sunday.
Sergeant Andrew Hockingfrom NT police said authorities believe the crocodile that took the man was about 4.5 metres in length.
He has warned people to stay away from the billabongs in the area.
"I would encourage people to think carefully about their safety about all times. The water is deep in this area and it always has the potential for a crocodile attack," he said.
A 12-year-old boy died in January after being attacked by a crocodile in the national park.
Human remains were found near where the boy had been swimming with friends in a billabong west of Jabiru.
