Crooks quits Eels for return to England

Ben Crooks failed to break into the Eels' NRL team and will now link up with his hometown club in England ahead of the 2016 season.

Former Hull centre Ben Crooks is returning to the English Super League with Castleford after less than a year with Parramatta.

The 23-year-old joined Parramatta in September but failed to break into the Eels' NRL team and will link up with his hometown club in November ahead of the 2016 season.

"Joining Parramatta Eels was designed to improve my skills and mature me both as a player and a person in the highest quality environment in world rugby league, while experiencing a new independent and memorable lifestyle," said Crooks.

"Even though I have not yet managed to break through and play in the NRL, I believe I have achieved my goals in my career development and will return to Super League a better player for the experience,

"I have loved by time at Parramatta and thank everyone for their guidance and support."

Crooks burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion in 2012 and the following year he was named in the Super League Dream Team and won the Super League young player-of-the-year award.
