Olympic medal winner Kim Crow has qualified fastest for the single scull semi-finals at the World Rowing Championships in South Korea on a successful second day for Australia.

Crow, who medalled in both the single and double sculls at the 2012 London Olympics, shot out to an early lead and powered home to blitz Great Britain and the Netherlands in her heat and record the fastest time heading into the semis, which will take place on Friday.

Three other Australian crews secured direct qualification to their A-finals, with the women's eight, the women's lightweight quad scull and Erik Horrie in the Arms and shoulders single scull all advancing on Monday.

The women's eight, who had to overcome the loss of Tess Gerrand due to illness at the last minute, held off a spirited challenge from Great Britain to finish second behind heavy favourites the USA.

It wasn't as rosey for Australia men however, with only 2012 Paralympic silver medallist recording a win - which sent him directly to Thursday's A-final.

The lightweight quad scull finishing fourth in their six-boat field, the double scull pairing of Sasha Belonogoff and Tom Swann and the lightweight four both placing third while the men's eight finished second in a two-boat race.

They all missed out on the direct path to the semis and will need to try their luck in Wednesday's repechage in the hope of progressing.
