Adelaide Crows AFL coach Don Pyke has agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Pyke, who will coach his 50th AFL game in round one of the new season, will be in charge at West Lakes until the end of the 2021 season.

Appointed ahead of the 2016 season, the 49-year-old has led the club to the finals in his two years in charge.

"It's an honour and a privilege to be able to coach at such a proud Club like the Crows, and I am grateful to continue in my role," Pyke said in a Crows statement.

"As a football team we've laid some really good foundations but we continue to put in the hard work and strive to get better."

The Crows were grand finalists last year after they finished the home-and-away campaign on top of the ladder.

"Just like the playing group and everyone else at the Crows, I'm driven and determined to achieve sustained success for this Club," the 49-year-old Pyke said.

Crows chief Andrew Fagan said the decision to extend Pyke's reign was a simple one.

"I think stability is an important part of achieving sustained success and to have Don on board for three more years is a great result for the club," he said.
