Crows coach finds art in frustration

Adelaide coach Phil Walsh says after the frustration comes great art.

Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh knew he'd sound like a weirdo.

But he told his story anyway: how a self-described bogan found inspiration in art.

The Crows boss, who stresses he's no art critic, was in Amsterdam. At the Van Gogh museum.

"There is a man with great frustration," Walsh told reporters on Thursday.

"And I looked at that painting Sunflowers. And for a bogan from Hamilton like myself, I could actually see beauty in that frustration.

"So although our fans are frustrated, we're frustrated, we like to think there's some masterpieces still to be painted this year."

Walsh's Crows are perched seventh on the ladder, with an away trip to Brisbane on Saturday night.

The coach admits frustration at Adelaide's skill levels, kicking blunders and slack tackling. But he's philosophical.

"I will sound again a bit like a weirdo," he said.

"But great art comes out of a level of frustration."
