Crows uncertain on Worsfold's future

The Adelaide Crows don't expect John Worsfold to make a decision on a possible return to coaching until the end of the AFL season.

The Adelaide Crows don't expect John Worsfold to decide whether he wants to return to AFL coaching until the end of the season.

The former West Coast premiership coach has been touted as a potential candidate for the vacant Adelaide and Essendon coaching jobs.

But Adelaide's ruck coach Matthew Clarke says he doesn't expect Worsfold, who has been acting as the Crows' coaching director since the death of head coach Phil Walsh, to make any decision until season's end.

"I think it will be a question for the end of the season ... there is plenty of time to worry about that at the end of the year," Clarke told reporters on Thursday.

Worsfold spent much of the season saying he wouldn't coach again but has now softened that stance.

"There is no doubt that having been back involved and then seeing how great an environment footy clubs are, that there is some thought there that it's a good place to be," he told Channel Seven on Thursday.

"I'll give it more thought than I certainly was at the start of the season."

Worsfold, who coached West Coast to the 2006 premiership, will assist the Crows in his interim role as coaching director until the end of the season.

Adelaide appointed Scott Camporeale as caretaker coach following the July 3 death of Walsh, while Essendon are hunting a replacement for James Hird, who quit last week.
