Current acct deficit $9.59b in Dec qtr

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released the current account balance for the December quarter.

Australia's current account deficit was $9.59 billion in the December quarter, seasonally adjusted, from $12.13 billion in the previous quarter, official figures show.

The surplus on goods and services rose $2.8 billion in real terms, which would add 0.7 percentage points to growth in the December quarter measure of gross domestic product (GDP), the ABS said.

Australia's terms of trade on goods and services fell 1.7 per cent in the December quarter, seasonally adjusted, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said on Tuesday.

The terms of trade are the price of exports relative to the price of imports.
