Is that cocaine in your pants, sir or are you just happy to see me?

Quick-thinking customs officers have discovered almost five kilograms of cocaine after noticing an "abnormal bulge" near a traveller's groin at Brisbane Airport.

The 26-year-old Brazilian man was frisked and customs will allege the concealed drugs were located.

A second man, 23, was also discovered to be carrying an amount of cocaine.

The pair were on a flight from Auckland on Wednesday when they were selected for a baggage examination during which the bulge was noticed.

Queensland action regional commander John Ikin said customs officers were trained to spot attempts to hide items from them.

"Our officers are specialists at detecting drug concealments," Mr Ikin said.

"If people think they can smuggle illegal substances into Australia past Customs and Border Protection they are sorely mistaken."

The men have been referred to the Australian Federal Police and are expected to appear in front of court on Friday.
