Cycling boss confirms Anderson will leave

Former top AFL official Adrian Anderson will definitely leave Cycling Australia, despite starting a four-week extension on his tenure as chief executive

Cycling Australia (CA) president Gerry Ryan has again confirmed that chief executive Adrian Anderson will not take the role permanently.

The interim CEO was due to step down last Friday, but he will stay in the role for another four weeks.

"He has other things that's on the agenda for himself," Ryan told AAP.

"So we will be advertising for a CEO - mind you, there have been plenty of applicants already."

Ryan became CA president last November and Anderson became chief executive at the same time.

CA will hold their first board meeting this Friday since the pair started in the two key posts.

It is a crucial period for CA, which has struggled with financial and governance issues.

"He's certainly been able to get in there and sort out a lot of issues out, putting us on more solid ground," Ryan said of Anderson.

"There's still some unfinished business, tidying things up, so he's decided to stay on for an extra month to help us out."

There was also speculation on the weekend linking Anderson to the vacant chief executive role at AFL club St Kilda.

Anderson, the former AFL football operations manager, has denied he will go to the Saints.
