Cyclone Pam toll in Vanuatu rises to 24

The UN has raised the Vanuatu death toll from Cyclone Pam to 24 in its latest situation report.

Twenty-four people have been killed in Vanuatu by Cyclone Pam, which tore through the Pacific nation packing winds of up to 320km/h.

"There are 24 confirmed fatalities, 11 from Tafea, eight from Efate and five from Tanna," the UN's Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in a situation report.
