Dagg misses out on Crusaders recall

Fit-again All Blacks fullback Israel Dagg misses out on being included in the Crusaders' side to face the Western Force in Perth on Friday.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder has resisted the temptation to rush All Black Israel Dagg back into his side to face the Western Force.

Blackadder has made five changes to the starting side that beat the Lions last weekend but Dagg, who was sent to Perth as injury cover, does not feature in the match day 23.

The fullback, who underwent surgery on a shoulder injury in September, played 30 minutes of club rugby last weekend before joining the side after David Havili suffered a hip injury in the 43-37 win in Johannesburg.

But Blackadder has opted to start Fijian international Ben Volavola at fullback for Friday's match.

Hooker Ged Robinson wins a place on the bench after Ben Funnell injured a hamstring against the Lions.

All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock returns to the starting line-up with Scott Barrett dropping to the reserves while Jordan Taufua resumes at blindside flanker.

Sean Wainui replaces Kieron Fonotia at centre while halfback Mitchell Drummond sends Andy Ellis to the bench.

Crusaders: Ben Volavola, Johnny McNicholl, Sean Wainui, Ryan Crotty, Nemani Nadolo, Richie Mo'unga, Mitchell Drummond, Kieran Read (capt), Matt Todd, Jordan Taufua, Sam Whitelock, Luke Romano, Owen Franks, Codie Taylor, Wyatt Crockett. Reserves: Ged Robinson, Joe Moody, Mike Alaalatoa, Scott Barrett, Jimmy Tupou, Andy Ellis, Kieron Fonotia, Jone Macilai.
