Damaging winds and rainfall for NSW coast

A severe weather warning has been issued for the Sydney metropolitan, NSW Hunter and Illawarra areas, with damaging winds and heavy rainfall predicted.

People in Sydney and surrounding coastal areas of NSW are being urged to brace themselves for damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

A trough from a low pressure system is expected to intensify and move from the NSW south coast to the north on Friday.

Gusts of up to 90km/h are set to hit the Illawarra, Sydney metropolitan and Hunter regions.
