A dangerous sex offender will be released into the community under strict conditions, a West Australian Supreme Court judge has determined.
Patrick Alfred Dennis Comeagain, 41, was handed an indefinite detention order in October 2008 after spending most of his adult life in prison.
An Aboriginal man mainly raised in the Mullewa/Geraldton region, he had five episodes of serious sexual offending, starting in 1987 when he was aged 15.
The victims were generally adult women, but a group of five offences in 1994 were committed against a nine-year-old girl.
Comeagain also committed offences of a non-sexual nature.
In previous annual reviews of his dangerous sex offender status, it was noted there had been very few occasions following any release from prison when Comeagain had not re-offended shortly thereafter.
On Thursday, Justice Ralph Simmonds said Comeagain remained a serious danger to the community, but his risk of reoffending could be adequately managed under a strict 10-year supervision order.
The conditions include electronic monitoring, curfews, compliance with medication directions and that he not possess or consume alcohol, or have contact with any child under the age of 16 unless it is authorised.
