North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells remains troubled by a foot injury and is likely to sit out another month of the AFL season.
Wells' foot was accidentally stomped on by a teammate at training prior to the Kangaroos' clash with Collingwood on April 19.
The 29-year-old played in pain against the Magpies, but the issue worsened and since then it's been nothing but setbacks.
Wells has already missed three games and was initially optimistic of returning after the bye for the Kangaroos' last-start shellacking of Brisbane.
But he's been ordered to rest again, with North's director of football Geoff Walsh saying on Monday the reigning club best and fairest winner would be sidelined for a further three or four weeks.
"Our physio and rehab team tried to ... pour some more running into him (last week) and he didn't react well to that," Walsh said.
"He's a bit frustrated but he understands there's probably no other course of action at this stage because it hasn't responded to what we'd been applying to date."
Wells is expected to start training again in two weeks, but does not need surgery according to Walsh.
Wells' absence coincides with a testing period for the seventh-placed Kangaroos, who face away trips to Geelong, West Coast and Adelaide in the next four weeks.
