Danny Green to fight fellow Aussie Watts

Danny Green will end his year-long absence from the ring with a fight against fellow Australian Kane Watts in Melbourne.

Three-division world title winner Danny Green will fight a fellow Australian boxer for the first time in five years, but it won't be his arch adversary Anthony Mundine.

Green (34-5) will take on Victorian cruiserweight Kane Watts (18-2) on August 3 in Melbourne.

Green, 43, last fought in August 2015 and his most recent bout against a compatriot was his controversial and brief bout in 2010 with Paul Briggs.

Watts, 33, has won his past nine fights, but has never been up against anyone remotely as good as Green, who is a former WBA light heavyweight, IBO cruiserweight and interim WBC super middleweight world champion.
