Gold Coast's loss to Parramatta was a performance to forget, so maybe it is just as well Chris McQueen came back from Darwin with concussion.
McQueen's memory of Sunday's 22-12 NRL loss against the Eels is mostly second-hand after he was knocked out in just the fourth minute of the match.
The ex-Queensland State of Origin player copped a whack in the head from teammate Konrad Hurrell as the pair attempted to tackle Eel Michael Gordon.
That incident has done little however to undermine McQueen's disappointment at the Titans' blowing a chance to move as high as fifth on the ladder, especially after they claimed an early lead against the Eels before fading in the latter stages of the match.
"It was very frustrating to have contributed so little to the match," McQueen told the club's website.
"We had a good opportunity to get two wins on the road and come back to the Gold Coast with a couple of home games to follow. It would have been four wins in row.
"To not get past the fourth minute and then to lose Koni in the second half and to have only two men on the bench for a good part of the game didn't help.
"It's hard to go home empty-handed from Darwin and not even having contributed. It's a good opportunity lost."
McQueen will have over a week to try and shake off the symptoms of his concussion and prove his fitness for next Monday's visit by Manly.
The 28-year-old said the friendly fire incident with Hurrell was his first experience of being knocked out on a football field.
"I have had a few head knocks over the years but always been able to carry on," McQueen said.
"I've never been left on the ground like that."
Hurrell, who limped off late in his first appearance for the Titans with a calf injury, will undergo scans following the team's return to Queensland on Monday but the long turnaround until the clash with the Sea Eagles gives the ex-Warrior every chance to play.
