Treasurer Joe Hockey says new figures highlight the success of his small business package in the May budget as firms posted their biggest spending in three years.
The Commonwealth Bank business sales indicator for May shows that sales grew 1.9 per cent in the wake of initiatives in the budget, including the small business $20,000 instant asset write-off.
"The results are starting to come in ... there is no doubt that the budget this year has been very successful," Mr Hockey told parliament on Tuesday.
