DataDot renews Subaru contract

Security identification firm DataDot has renewed its contract with carmaker Subaru, signing a new three-year deal.

Subaru vehicles sold in Australia will continue to be protected by DataDot's anti-theft system after the security identification firm renewed its contract with the carmaker.

DataDot Technology didn't give a dollar value for the three-year contract that starts on June 1. DataDot has been working with Subaru since 2003.

DataDot's anti-theft system involves marking an asset with a unique individual code - such as a car's Vehicle Identification Number - via microscopic metal or polymer data dots applied using a clear adhesive with a UV trace.

The marked equipment is then registered on a global database.

DataDot's shares were 0.10 cents, or 5.0 per cent, higher at 2.1 cents at 1240 AEST.
