Daughter left mum dead for months: inquest

An inquest will continue into the death of an 83-year-old Sydney woman left dead in her bed for at least four months.

An inquest into the death of a woman whose body was left to "mummify" in her bedroom for at least four months will continue in Sydney.

Real estate agents were performing a routine inspection at a Kellyville home in October 2013 when the 83-year-old's "largely mummified" body was discovered.

Noreen Peacock's daughter Melissa began caring for her after she was diagnosed with severe dementia in 2010, the inquest heard on Thursday.

It was told that as Noreen's condition began to deteriorate, Melissa - unable to cope - began drinking heavily.

The inquest at Glebe Coroner's court is due to continue on Friday.
