Big-hitting local Cameron Davis has hung tough to beat New Zealand's Tyler Hodge and claim the Australian men's amateur golf title.
Sydney teenager Davis never led Sunday's final at The Australian until the 31st hole and was down by as many as four during the morning round.
But he but kept fighting back and finally triumphed one up at the 37th hole with a brilliant chip to within inches of the pin for a birdie.
The national women's final was in stark contrast to the closely-contested men's match as Shelly Shin crushed fellow Sydney teen Lizzie Elmassian 8 and 7.
Shin was a member of Australia's three-woman team which won the world teams championship last year, along with recently turned professionals Minjee Lee and Su Oh.
She was was in superb touch from the outset on Sunday and played the first six holes in four-under-par as she raced to a big lead she never looked like relinquishing.
She earned a spot in next month's Women's Australian Open at Royal Melbourne.
