Day 6 snapshot at world swimming titles

High and lows from day six at the world swimming titles at Budapest.

HIGHS AND LOWS FROM DAY SIX OF THE WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS:

SWIM OF THE DAY - Australia's Emily Seebohm equals her own national record to qualify fastest for the 200m backstroke final in two minutes, 05.81 seconds - the same time that earned her 200m gold at the 2015 world titles in Russia.

STAT OF THE DAY - Australia are 12th on the world titles table with seven medals but still without gold with two days left at the world titles. The last time Australia failed to register a win was at the 1986 world titles where they not only did not claim gold, they went without a medal after making just five finals.

UPSET OF THE DAY - Co-Olympic champion Simone Manuel set a new US mark (52.27 seconds) to pull off a boilover 100m freestyle win, overwhelming favourite and world record holder Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden in a fast finish.

TALKING POINT - Bronte Campbell became the third Australian to have their world title defence derailed at Budapest after finishing second last in the 100m freestyle final, joining Emily Seebohm (100m backstroke) and Mitch Larkin (100m, 200m backstroke). Campbell can still defend her 50m crown in Hungary.

QUOTE OF THE DAY - "I was pretty exhausted" - EMMA MCKEON after a huge seven-race program finally caught up with her, finishing last in the 100m freestyle final. She has five world titles medals - the most by an Australian woman - and can still equal Ian Thorpe's 2001 haul of six. Michael Klim has the overall Aussie record with seven (1998).
