Jason Day heads the 10 players who have earned automatic selection on the International team for golf's biennial Presidents Cup clash with the United States.

World No.3 Day is joined by fellow Australians Adam Scott and Marc Leishman in the team while Steve Bowditch, Matt Jones and John Senden are among leading contenders for the two captain's picks to be added by Nick Price on Wednesday.

Making up the rest of the team are South Africans Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Charl Scwhartzel, Japan's Hideki Matsuyama and debutants Anirban Lahiri (India), Thongchai Jaidee (Thailand) and Danny Lee (New Zealand), who pipped Jones for an automatic spot.

The Presidents Cup will be played at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon City, South Korea from October 9-11.

The Internationals will again have their work cut out against the powerful US squad, captained by Jay Haas, having won just one of the 10 contests - back in 1998 at Royal Melbourne.

The 10 Americans on the squad so far are headed by world No.1 Jordan Spieth and include Bubba Watson, Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Matt Kuchar and Chris Kirk.

Heading the contenders for Haas' two captain's picks on points standings are his son Bill Haas, JB Holmes and Charley Hoffman.
